“Mommy Camp” Day One

Megan wanted to tell you about the first day of “Mommy Camp”.

I am not very sure what time I got up.  I was very tired and it was still dark out! After I watched the kids leave and then Mark leave for work, I went back to bed.

In the morning, I woke up early again, earlier than I normally do. I got changed. I played outside a little bit. I did a little work and we took a walk.  We were looking for bunnies. We saw two baby bunnies!

After lunch and nap, we painted our sign. Then we took care of the butterflies.  We moved them into a different cage and made sure they were all fed.  The rest of the day we played on the tire swing until Mark got home.

We had a cinnamon roll picnic.  Then Mark and I played until it was time for work.  I helped at work, picked some veggies and then got to play on the “scissors”. Then I got to play with the chickens.

Then it was time for dinner.  Daddy brought home some pasties and we had ice cream.  Before bed we had our devotions and then Mark read to me.

I was very tired and do not know how long it took to fall asleep.

 

Heading to Camp

The kids were up early this morning, all excited to head to camp!  This year, both girls will have a friend join them. Audrey has her friend Casteel, and Andrea gets to enjoy Evie.  Maybe next year we can find a friend for Adrian.

Please pray for camp this week.  Please pray that the kids are encouragements to their counselors and other campers they interact with.  Please also pray that each one will hear and understand something new that will help them grow in Christ.

This is the first year that Mark has not gone to camp in a long time.  After thinking and praying about it, he decided to stay home and work.  I think that he is looking forward to the chance of going to “Mommy Camp” with Megan though! Megan said she plans for them to go out on dinner and ice cream dates.

Summer Thinking

We decided to take a mini vacation today.  We took many of the coupons the kids earned for the Goshen library summer reading program and enjoyed free lunches.  The kids earned free cones at Culvers, pretzels at Jojo’s and soft drinks from the Electric Brew.  Megan earned two “Pucker Powder” tubes from the Nut Shoppe and the girls bought some lotions with gift certificates from Maple City Market.

Between all of that, we enjoyed looking for all the Seward Johnson statues that we could find. It was neat listening to everyone come up with ideas on what they should do for each story. While most were easy, there were a few very challenging ones.  Everyone had fun and we look forward to the next time searching for statues.

Summer Night Fun



After putting the children to bed, we realized that there were a lot of fireflies out. I told everyone they could get out of bed so they could go catch as many as they could.

They would have loved to be outside longer, but the mosquitoes were enjoying their unexpected treats.  The kids took their “summer lights” into their rooms for the night and headed to bed just before the rain came.
