The girls had fun getting ready to go out this afternoon!
On Monday, Adrian and Megan went to a class to learn how to make corn husk dolls.  Andrea and Audrey had volunteered to help, so they learned also while helping children between the ages of 6-9 learn to make their own.
Everyone enjoyed it so much that they wanted to create their own.  We had most everything we needed, so we spent Thursday afternoon designing more. It was a great way to spend a cooler fall day.
We thought it would be fun to make more, but we would like to get some raffia before we make them. We also would like to figure out how to make the boys a little differently. Â They are not quite right.
Megan gave this to me yesterday. Â Then she told me the story about it.
This is a picture of a girl who is a very good sword fighter or with any weapon. She is fighting a boy pirate who is not so good a fighter as her, but is a bad guy. He robs people. Then he tries to escape in his ship. She got on his boat, even though it was sailing away, on a rope she had made. She rescued all the treasure.
I think we have been reading too many pirate stories out loud and watching too many versions of Treasure Island.
Audrey taught me how to do embroidery. I made a picture of a princess. I did all of it but one shoe and part of the hair.

One of the first things we noticed when we walked into Grandma’s house was a handwritten warning that Audrey designed the last time we were in Colorado. While we really dislike rattlesnakes, the memory did make us smile.
