Hay Loft Pictures

On Saturday, we borrowed the neighbors hay loft to use as a photo studio.  My goal was to get Megan’s two year old picture, but she was not liking being in the loft.

While I still need a lot of practice using-and hiding-an external flash, I think these turned out very well.

Butterfly Camp

While getting a tour at camp Patmos, I was shown a garden and told, “during the day, there are lots of butterflies there”.  So, of course, I needed to try to capture some of them.

One, Two!

Megan is two years old now. We celebrated her birthday while at camp. It was a very unique birthday for her!

She got to do some of her favorite camp activities; ride a bike and explore the rocks by the water.  Because camp was over and the pop house wanted to share leftovers instead of throwing them away, she also able to pick her own lunch, which turned out to be ice cream, nacho chips, a slushy, and a cone without ice cream. I discovered what all she ate after she enjoyed them and when she refused to eat a “normal” lunch.

Megan is starting to talk more.  She is starting two word sentences, but knows only one two syllable word – ice cream.  She is also learning to count.  She surprised us on the ferry counting cars, and getting to five! She knows a few colors and loves to ask what color she is coloring with.

Happy Birthday Megan.  You are a wonderful little girl.  I love you very much!

Camp Patmos Sunset

For the last week we have been at helping some  friends at camp. The first weekend Mark was a camper.  Allan helped in the scenario based activities. The girls and Adrian got to help in different places too.  Megan and I offered to take pictures for the weekend.  Camp was  a lot of fun!  I will tell more about it later though.

We are on a small island on Lake Erie.  The sunsets have been beautiful, but last night’s sunset was spectacular!

Mushrooms

This weekend, I was having fun making kaleidoscopes with the mushroom picture I posted earlier.  Each kaleidoscope starts with the same initial cut.  Then I cut them in different sized angles to form the kaleidoscopes.

I love how one picture can create totally different kaleidoscopes, depending on how it is cut.

The last time I tried to make a kaleidoscope, I did not do very well.   However, after Allan answered a few questions I had, I was able to do these pretty easily.

I like them all, but I think I like the six sided one the best.  The “lace work” in the middle of the twelve sided one is neat too.

Which do you like the most?
