The frost on our plants this morning was beautiful!  What an awesome treat from God!

 

This tree and all the assorted colored leaves still clinging to its branches caught my eye at the park today.

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Just before dinner, my littlest boyfriend ran into the house, said “pretend it’s not me” and placed a handful of flowers on the table for me to enjoy.

We went to the zoo for school today.  The kids were supposed to observe the animals that God created and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Adrian was excited to see the tiger.  He keeps saying that tigers (and Tiggers) are his favorite animal.  At the tiger cage, Mark discovered a little “cave” with a window that we did not know about.  He rushed back excitedly to tell us that the tiger was really easy to see there.

So, everyone ran and pressed up to the glass to watch the tiger pacing. When the tiger got close to the window, everyone realized how big tigers really are. Even behind thick glass, the tiger intimidated everyone enough that we all took a step back –at the same time– when it got to the window!

I have not seen a hummingbird since we have returned from our trip.  The leaves on our Maple are orange. It is official.  Fall is here.

While getting a tour at camp Patmos, I was shown a garden and told, “during the day, there are lots of butterflies there”.  So, of course, I needed to try to capture some of them.

On Monday night, my boyfriend brought home a beautiful bouquet of roses for me.

They are so pretty!  I had fun trying hard to get a good picture to show them off 🙂

This weekend, I was having fun making kaleidoscopes with the mushroom picture I posted earlier.  Each kaleidoscope starts with the same initial cut.  Then I cut them in different sized angles to form the kaleidoscopes.

I love how one picture can create totally different kaleidoscopes, depending on how it is cut. 

The last time I tried to make a kaleidoscope, I did not do very well.   However, after Allan answered a few questions I had, I was able to do these pretty easily.

I like them all, but I think I like the six sided one the best.  The “lace work” in the middle of the twelve sided one is neat too.

Which do you like the most?

On Friday, we found a Praying Mantis in the garage.  The kids put it in a jar and brought it inside.  We did a little research to learn how to take care of it so we could maybe keep it for awhile.

When no one could catch any live flies for it to eat, we decided to let it free.  On Saturday, Audrey took it outside and came back inside with it.  “Mom, what is on the mantis?”

The Praying Mantis was laying her egg sack, called an ootheca!  We will keep the egg case somewhere in the garage until spring, when we hope to see the babies hatch.

“Mom” was put on the bushes in the backyard.  Maybe we can find her again to play with again later.
